Padel rackets for advanced players

Advanced padel players already have a lot of experience, master the technique very well, play several times a week and are also very competitive! Some players already have a diamond shaped padel racket, and others still play with a round or teardrop-shaped padel racket. As an advanced padel player, we recommend you to choose a diamond shaped racket. To be able to play well with this racket, you need the necessary experience. Therefore, as a beginner, we would never recommend such a racket. As a recreational player, you might consider it, but realize that you will more easily lose control of the ball if you do not master the technique well.

Advice for advanced padel rackets

As described above, as an advanced padel player, you have already gained the necessary experience and have played many intensive rallies and mastered the technique very well. Experienced padel players, we therefore recommend a diamond shaped racket. These padel rackets allow you to hit with more power. You can show your opponent every corner of the court!

Advantages of a diamond shaped padel racket

An experienced padel player can take up the challenge of playing with a diamond shaped racket. In general, these rackets weigh a little more and the sweet spot is a little smaller than with a round padel racket. This results in the big advantage that you can hit the ball with more power. The combination of proper technique, game sense and power make for an invincible cocktail. So choose a diamond-shaped blade if you want to take your game to the next level with a different type of racket. Of course, this does require an adjustment in your playing style because these padel rackets respond differently.

Besides the shape of the blade, it is also important to consider the weight. We recommend playing rackets between 365 and 375 grams. The heavier the racket, the more power strokes you can hit. We also recommend 38 mm thick rackets (these are almost all padel rackets for this level).

Other models are also suitable

To make things a little more complicated, there are of course round and drop padel rackets that are certainly also suitable for padel players playing at an advanced level. Nowadays, these rackets are being developed with modified weights, balance points, etc. so that they are still suitable.

Disadvantage of a diamond shaped padel racket

One disadvantage of a diamond-shaped padel racket is its higher error rate, maneuverability and required technique. The purpose of a diamond-shaped racket is to be able to hit extra powerful strokes. To make this possible, the sweet spot is reduced, so you have to hit the ball even better. If you hit the ball outside this "range" the ball will go in a different direction, or you will hit it wrong immediately. Also, the rackets are heavier, reducing maneuverability. As mentioned earlier, your technique must be of a high level, otherwise you will probably not make use of the advantages of a diamond padel racket. In fact, your game will get worse.

Injury prone?

Are you an injury prone padel player? In that case, choose a light padel racket. A light padel racket is easier to handle because it has less resistance. This allows you to move the racket faster and return the ball well. A light racket is also ideal for the more injury prone players as it reduces the strain on your shoulder, elbow etc. The disadvantage of a light weight padel racket, is the lack of power. Mass = power. Fortunately, various technologies can partly compensate for this.

What are the differences between padel rackets?

A padel racket can differ in shape, weight and materials used. The heavier padel rackets are suitable for powerful players who have a lot of technique. The lighter rackets are suitable for players who are just starting to padel, who are prone to injuries, or who want a more maneuverable racket. And then of course you can choose between a round, Tear drop shaped or diamond-shaped racket. The rackets are made of glassfiber, carbon or a combination of these materials.
