The youngest badminton players can best start with a short children's badminton racket. These rackets have a short handle compared to the regular rackets. Therefore, they are ideal for young children to learn how to play badminton.

Start with the basics

Very young children should start with the basics of badminton. We believe that this should be just like with everyone else, PLAY FUN. They should be able to 'fall in love' with the sport, by having fun with peers. A suitable badminton racket is of great importance. The youngest and therefore smaller children cannot handle a standard racket very well. Therefore, the short racquet is available for this group of players.

Why use a short-shaft racket?

The advantage of using a racket with a shorter shaft is that the maneuverability is increased. For smaller children, a standard racket is too head heavy. This makes it more difficult for them to handle the racket properly. And because they are smaller they will drag a normal racket across the ground which will damage it. In short, enough reasons to choose a racket with a short shaft for small children.

Taking the next step

As the children get older and usually taller, it will be easier for them to handle an 'adult' racket. They will be able to handle the racket better, and if all goes well they will have learned a basic technique.
At that point, children can make the switch to a starting youth players. These rackets are made of aluminum and carbon and are therefore strong enough. They can take a beating and the children will be able to develop their technique.
