Dion Hoegen

Hello all,

My name is Dion Hoegen, 13 years old and since 2018 proud sponsor of KW Flex Badminton specialist store and Victor Europe. I was introduced to the badminton sport at a young age, inspired by my grandfather Jack, who passed away too early, who gave me a racket and shuttlecock at a young age. When I was 5.5 years old I had my first badminton training at grandfather's BV Mash in Raamsdonksveer. Grandpa's friends Ferry and Roy took me under their wing and soon saw that I really liked the game. I was always the first to arrive, the last to leave. Together with the other trainers they made me completely crazy about the game.

After 2 years of club training on Saturday morning and also a year of Mini (step-up) Competition, I started following additional training at RTC Breda. The first six months once a week, then twice a week. At that time I also played my first tournaments, in Tiel and Maarsenbroek. I liked it more and more and started looking for opportunities to play. I was introduced to the Junior Master Circuit and made a goal of this circuit in 2017. I managed to finish 1st in the JM-classification and because of this I was allowed to play the Junior Master Cup final on 13-10-2018 during the Dutch Open in the Topsporthal in Almere. Together with coach Hans Portier and Stijn Beerkens I managed to win this match. My best badminton result to date !! Although I must also say that 2x unbeaten Dutch Champion with my team in the U11 & U13 class is very nice.

After 3.5 years of RTC Breda, I was selected to train at the RTC Deurne, now RTC Eindhoven, where I also started training as a holiday worker. Unfortunately it was not possible to join this group full-time. Simply because it was not possible financially and also logistically. In order to continue to develop myself, I made the switch 2 years ago from Bv Mash to BCO in Oosterhout, where I now train 3x a week and also play competition. After an unbeaten year in the U17 and a nice championship, I made my debut this season in the senior league / 6th division. Besides training and playing competition at the club, I train once a week privately or together with my Belgian buddy Viktor Patteet. Together with him I play many Junior Master tournaments in the Netherlands & Belgium and I recently participated in international youth tournaments in Luxembourg and France.
My ambition is to keep getting better and I would like to achieve good results every year at the Junior Master tournaments, the Regional Youth & Seniors Championships and the Dutch Championship. My dream is to become one of the best Dutch badminton players. In addition to badminton, I am determined to obtain my HAVO diploma at Dongemond College in my home town of Raamsdonksveer.
