Who is Viktor Axelsen?
Viktor Axelsen was born on January 4, 1994 in the well-known Danish city of Odense. There he learned the tricks of badminton in his youth and developed himself into a top talent!
In October 2010, when he was only 16 years old, Viktor won his first adult badminton tournament, the Cyprus International tournament. In the same year he played himself through the qualifiers of the Denmark Open 2010. So a home game! This tournament is part of the BWF Super series, but unfortunately he was killed in the second round of that tournament. At the end of 2010, Viktor did win the 2010 World Junior Badminton Championships in Mexico, making him the 1st European badminton player to win the title.
As described above, he was an early winner. Some achievements that Viktor achieved in subsequent years are:
- 2011 Gold medal European Junior Championships + 2nd place World Junior Championships
- 2012 2nd place French Open + bronze at EC 2012
- 2014 Winner Swiss Open + Bronze at World & European Championships

Those are just the highlights, because Viktor Axelsen has put many more tournaments to his name in recent years! In 2016, he became the first European badminton player to win the men's singles title at the BWF World Super series Final.
At the beginning of 2021, his world ranking in the men's singles will be No. 4, and he is 1st in the World Tour ranking.
Viktor currently has the badminton brand Yonex, which of course comes from Japan. The largest badminton brand in the world, which everyone in the sport knows.
Yonex has launched the very best Astrox badminton racket in 2020, the Yonex Astrox 100ZZ. Of course, Viktor plays with this Yonex badminton racket, because he mainly plays singles and likes to dominate with attacking powerful strokes. The Astrox 100ZZ is stiff - head heavy and weighs approx. 86 grams / 3U.
At KW FLEX you can choose a free string of your choice worth €18. Viktor himself plays with the Yonex Aerobite Boost string, which gives maximum control and a lot of smash power.
Until the end of 2020 he played on the beautiful Yonex SHB 65Z 2 Men Saphire Navy shoes from Kento Momota. These Yonex men's badminton shoes provide a lot of stability, due to the sturdy heel and carbon plate in the bottom sole, and provide enough cushioning due to the 3-layer Power Cushion. Moreover, as a badminton player, you remain very agile on the court due to the light weight!
At the beginning of 2021, Yonex celebrated its 75th anniversary and in honor of this anniversary they have designed the special Yonex SHB 65Z 2 Men 75th White. Of course, like many other top badminton players, he also plays on it at the moment.
One of the Yonex badminton bags that Viktor likes to use is the Yonex 9632 EX Pro Troll Bag Black, in which he can easily take all his tournament gear with him.
